Breakaway Cafe is a much-loved and popular cafe, located in the Central Plaza shopping center. Here you can enjoy the perfect cocktail in combination with a real American meal. In 2004 there was a huge makeover, which made the Breakaway Café what it is today. The choice of music is therefore very decisive for the atmosphere that you see returning. If you look around you will see that the authentic decoration from the 50s and 60s is mixed with today’s electronics. It is funny that the music takes you back in time, so the combination of past and present is very unique.

History

De Doelen originated in the seventeenth century, when public concerts were held by city musicians on the Haagscheveer. Later in 1844 the then still called “De Doele” was opened on Coolsingel. Later in 1940, the building was destroyed in a bombing in World War II. The current De Doelen was only opened in 1966. It is a municipal monument that serves as the ‘capstone of the reconstruction’ and is of great historical cultural value for the city.

Central Plaza is centrally located just a few minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station.
